Endocrinologist Appointment

I have not been this nervous about an appointment since they day I found out I was Diabetic. I have been really frustrated lately and just needed to talk it out and get some direction. I will try and condense an hour long appointment as best as I can- but while i’m overwhelmed and heard things I didn’t really want to hear, I am excited about moving forward.

First, I got a letter from my insurance company that as of Jan 1st, they were no longer going to be covering the insulin I was taking and I got put on something new today. The best part- my old prescription was $140 for 3 months, the new one is $15 for 3 months!!

I need to cut out the grains and my beloved carbs. I also need to burn at least 500 calories a day in order to lose 1/2 – 1 lb a week. I will be sending my daily Garmin breakdown (foods, workouts, steps) to my Dr every day until my next appt which is next month and we’ll go from there. The most important thing is to get my blood sugars controlled, low and keep myself alive. I need to have the mindset that this isn’t a diet, it’s saving my kidneys from dialysis, saving my heart, saving myself from an early grave.

Because insulin is a fat storing hormone, I need to work twice as hard to lose the same amount of weight as the average person. It can be done, but I just have to really push myself hard every day. #nodaysoff.

I will need all the support I can get!!!

I can totally see why you would be feeling overwhelmed, but it sounds like you have a solid plan and a great doctor. I know whoever I need motivation, I can turn to other fitness bloggers on social media…they understand the struggles! Cheering you on!!
