Christmas Cookie Party {2014}

Back in 2010 after my Dad had passed away in April, the Christmas season was not something we looked forward to. My Dad LOOOOVED Christmas and facing it without him seemed impossible. My Mom decided that we needed to do something fun and something we hadn’t done before so we could start a new tradition; and the Christmas cookie party began.

That first year, we made about 5 dozen cookies and now 4 years later we made 9 dozen.

So big we can’t even fit them in the same room anymore.

That’s a LOT of cookies. My contribution this year was a white chocolate peppermint crunch cookie that I found on Pinterest.

They were SO good! Even a week later they were just as soft and fluffy as they were the day I made them. This year’s theme was the ever so popular Ugly Christmas Sweater.

To go along with the cookies, we had hot chocolate; everyone gets a fun mug.

And then we spent the next few hours playing some games, talking and just relaxing for an afternoon.

….and now onto my meals from yesterday. There really is no easy way to segue.

{Breakfast} – A cheesy omelet. After the picture I added sour cream and salsa, I swear I got a picture of that, but I vaguely remember a certain baby ready for a nap and I was trying to hurry.

{Lunch} A tuna cup with crackers

Along with a Greek yogurt. I was amazed at how filling this meal was.

{Dinner} Epic fail. I had chicken in salsa and taco seasoning cooking all day in the crock pot, shredded it about an hour before we ate and it smelled amazing. After 1 bite, we all realized the chicken was insanely freezer burnt. Kids ended up having bean and cheese burritos and the husband and I split the rest of his Pad Thai he had for lunch earlier.

I hate when something smells really good and you get all excited to eat it and then boom. Gross. And with that, I’m off. Time to get the last 2 kids up and ready for school. I’m so happy it’s the last day, I’m ready for 2 weeks of no alarm clocks, car pools or anything but hanging out with the kids I love most. Have a great day!

    I have been thinking about doing a cookie party for years. I think once have some more room in our house, I will make it a tradition! Your cookie choice looks great!

    Ugh, I hate when that happens too. Sadly, I rarely date my freezer shit, let alone mark what it is. I’ve brought marinara to work thinking it was roasted red pepper soup before! Your baby is getting so big! Hugs and Love, Biz

    I’m glad your family has found a fun way to bring all of you together with a cookie party! Such a bummer about dinner, but it looks like the rest of your meals for the day were pretty yummy 🙂
